چکیده مقاله:
In this paper seismic retrofit of an existing building is studied. This is a school in Ghaem district in Tehran. The building plan is almost rectangular and the structural system consists of precast concrete walls. The School is in two stories, each being 2.9 m high and has 16 classes.The roofs had been constructed using precast concrete panels. The school was recognized as seismically vulnerable after identification of the building and preparing the structural drawings of the existing condition, and analysis based on the technical domestic document “Instructions for Seismic Rehabilitation of Existing Buildings”. Three different scenarios were compared for rehabilitation of the building based on which shotcreting of the walls was chosen as the preferred option. Finally, this existing building was retrofitted according to the Basic Rehabilitation Objective consisting of providing life safety under seismic risk level one equivalent to the design earthquake in the Standard 2800
